Midiyanto & Heni Savitri Performance and Interview

On Tuesday, April 10th @ 1:30PM, DJ Sparkle Motion hosts world-renowned Javanese Puppetmaster/orchestra director, Midiyanto, and Javanese vocalist, Heni Savitri, for an in-studio acoustic performance and interview.

Midiyanto & Savitri perform with UC Berkeley’s Javanese Gamelan Orchestra, Sari Raras, on Saturday, April 28th at Hertz Concert Hall on the UC Berkeley Campus. Show starts at 7:30pm.

Gamelan Sari Raras, founded by Midiyanto and Ben Brinner in 1988, has performed extensively in California and toured in Indonesia in 2012 and 2015. This ensemble plays on an exquisite set of instruments named Gamelan Kyahi Udan Mas, donated to the Department of Music by Sam and Louise Scripps, who also donated the equally beautiful set of shadow puppets which will be used in this shadow play.
