On Wednesday, May 29th @ 8:30AM, The Pencil Sharpener speaks with Brooklyn based singer/musician, Roberto Lange AKA Helado Negro.
Lange discusses how his music is cobbled together by focusing on shapes and textures in his mind’s eye, incorporating surreal vignettes and memories sourced from 20 years ago through today.
The conversation also delved into the artist’s loss of control once a work is disseminated en masse, how priorities, habits, and values change across time, and what it feels like to get hit with 50 grand (in the form of a United States Art fellowship award).
