Join Berkestir on Wednesday, June 12th @ 10:30am when he hosts David Katznelson of SF’s Birdman Records to discuss the upcoming Skip Spence Tribute Show on June 15th at The Chapel in SF.

Saturday, June 15th at The Chapel in San Francisco, musical director Ethan Miller (Howlin Rain) in collaboration with producers David Katznelson (Birdman Records and original More Oar album producer) and (((folkYEAH!))) Presents bring a celebration of the music of Skip Spence with special guest artists and a performance of his outsider masterpiece ‘Oar.’ The event is a fundraiser for the beloved charity MusiCares who are helping musicians in need everyday.

Featuring very special guest performers: Jerry Miller (Moby Grape), Meg Baird w/ Charlie Saufley (Heron Oblivion, Drag City solo artist), Bill Orcutt (Harry Pussy, renowned avant guitarist), Kelley Stoltz (Third Man Records recording artist), Cyril Jordan (Flamin’ Groovies), Jesse DeNatale (Critically acclaimed songwriter), Leslie Medford (Ophelias and Independent Project Records recording artist), Paula Frazer (Tarnation), Inna Showalter (Magic Fig, Whitney’s Playland), Brogan Bentley (Solo Electronic Artist) and more TBA.

With the house band of Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Steve Turner (Mudhoney), Kash Killion (Sun Ra Arkestra), Andy Cabic (Vetiver) and Ethan Miller (Howlin Rain).

“The main focus of the event is on the Oar album but we will also celebrate the aspects in which Spence touched and shaped popular music of the ’60s, ’70s and beyond with Moby Grape, Jefferson Airplane and his connection to The Doobie Brothers and others. We’re bringing a barn full of diverse talent together under one roof to bring Skip’s stunning music to life. Expect to hear some serious Moby Grape rippage go down too!” ~ Ethan Miller (Musical Director)
