Mohsen Namjoo Interview

Posted on May 3, 2019

Moshen6

Join DJ Velvet Einstein on Saturday, May 4th @ 2PM when he airs a recent interview with Iranian-American singer-songwriter, Mohsen Namjoo.  Together, they discuss the value of low pitch versus high pitch sounds in music from different cultures around the world, the mixture of musical styles (when it works and when it doesn’t), and his recent collaboration with Ehsan Matoori, Phantasm.

Born in 1976 in Khorasan province, one of epicenters of poetry and music north east of Iran, Mohsen Namjoo is a singer, songwriter, music scholar, and Setar (traditional Persian lute) player currently based in New York City.  His unique style of singing and effortless mixture of music from east and west has made him an iconic persona in contemporary world music.
