Tune in to The Graduates this Tuesday @ 9AM for an interview with Kat Magoulick from the Department of Integrative Biology. Kat is a paleontologist who studies the Great American Biotic Interchange, an event precipitated by the formation of the Isthmus of Panama about 2.7 million years ago. With the continents connected by land, animals from North America moved into South America and vice versa. In the interview, Kat talks about how she uses fossil occurrence data and paleoclimate models to try to understand why the animals that moved between the continents were able to do so.
The Graduates, featuring graduate student research at Cal, is broadcast every other Tuesday on KALX 90.7 FM. Past episodes are available to listen and download free on iTunes or online. This episode of The Graduates is hosted by Andrew Saintsing, a PhD candidate in the Department of Integrative Biology.
