That’s Wednesday, February 27th @ 9AM-12PM.
For the last 7 years, on his last show of February, Sex 14s has spent his show examining the monumental cultural legacy encompassed within the term “Black History.” From James Brown to Fela Kuti; from Harry Belefonte to Bobby Valentin; from Nina Simone to Miriam Makeba; from Paul Robeson to Chris Rock. It is impossible to overstate the impact of black authors, painters, composers, musicians, actors, scientists, politicians, activists, philosophers, dancers, designers, engineers, attorneys, physicians, etcetera, etcetera.
Some say it is ridiculous to set aside one month out of each year for black history because, in the truest sense, black history IS history not just in the United States but throughout the world. Nevertheless, it is a construct that affords us the opportunity to reflect on the great issues that Black History represents. Coming up on the last Wednesday of February – the 27th – on KALX.
