This Monday, June 1st @ 11:30AM, DJ Sparkle Motion interviews experimental/psych rock quartet Chui Wan from Beijing, China, touring the U.S. on the heels of their eponymous 2015 album release. Chui Wan takes its name from the mystical tome of a Daoist philosopher, Zhuangzi. Drawing inspiration from post-punk and no wave, as well as artists No Age, Velvet Underground, Goat, Lamonte Young, John Cage and others, the group’s sound is inspired by the concept of seeking the infinite from the mundane through improvisational compositions that sound like a mix of twentieth-century minimalism, Asian folk, jazz, pop-spy soundtracks, Krautrock, and early Pink Floyd.
