Komeili is a cell biologist and associate professor of plant and microbial biology at UC Berkeley. His research uses bacterial magnetosomes as a model system to study the molecular mechanisms governing the biogenesis and maintenance of bacterial organelles. In part one, Arash walks us through what he is researching and how he was drawn to it. In part two, Arash explains how these discoveries of the bacterial magnetosomes might be applied. He also talks about social media as a too for the scientific outreach he does.
