Tune in on Thursday February 9th at 11:59pm  for our bimonthly show , Why Baby Why, KALX’s County and Roots music show. The Berkestir will feature songs written by the late, great, singer-songwriter Ian Tyson, known as the Prince of Canada . In the 1960’s, Ian was part of the folk duo Ian and Sylvia.  Sylvia was Ian’s wife at the time. In 1969, they went to Nashville and started one of the 1st country rock bands, The Great Speckled Bird. Ian then went solo in the 70’s for the next 40 plus years, in the Western Cowboy story song vein. The Berkestir  also includes lots of other artists covering Ian Tyson’s songs as well.
