DJ Penny Royal hosts KALX Live! on Saturday, May 30th featuring San Francisco’s Warm Spell. The night will showcase a live performance, interview, and our host’s selections from the Live! archive til midnight.
Warm Spell is a so-called improv band, so-called performative ritual gathering, so-called band, genre: weird. Throughout a song may emerge, sometimes in sync and other times, everyone spaces out on their own gifted juice, keeping the excitation of an amorphous gelatin field in the Ultra-Deep Fornax constellation alive and melting. A conflux of both environmental reality: ‘the warm’, and magical conjuring: ‘the spell”.
Depending on availability, members range from 4 to 6. Collaborators for eons of days, supporters of one anothers’ lives as creative and free beings, Warm Spell musicians’ backgrounds vary from the experimental, indie rock, silent movie sound tracks, electric folk and psychedelic sound designs.
