B-Fly hosts the next KALX Live! on April 18th. Tune in at 9pm to hear our featured local artist, DisRespectors, including a live set and interview from the SF crew.
The DisRespectors first burst onto the live music scene in April of 2024 by performing ata huge block party for MAPP (Mission Arts Performance Project), and eventually graduated to playing fabled venus such as Bottom Of The Hill, Gilman Street, SF EAGLE, The Kilowatt and Winters Tavern. The DisRespectors have been influenced by and carry on a sonic tradition unique to many Bay Area punk bands; combining the danceable, frenetic energy of Operation Ivy, the anthemic catchiness of Green Day, and the surf guitar intensity of Dead Kennedys.
Lyrically, the songs of The DisRespectors covers a diverse array of subject matters; from American civil unrest (“Welcome To The Freak Show”), to cult worship (“We Put The Q In Your Kool Aid”), substance abuse (“Dancing Through The Madness”), and to of course, partying with German women (“The Party Mode”). The goal of The DisRespectors is to make audiences dance, scream and shout and are not to be missed! Members include Darren Smoot (lead vocals / guitars) Julio di Mama (guitar / vocals), Matt Simon (bass / vocals) and Zach Waggonaer (drums).
Desperately trying to figure out when you can see the band for yourself? They’ll be at SPATS in Berkeley April 23 and OReilly’s in San Francisco on May 15.
