Did you ever have an album or a song that completely changed your musical perspective? Historically there are some albums that presage something new: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band or The Velvet Underground & Nico are deeply influential albums – catalysts of something new. More recently, Radiohead’s OK Computer or Nirvana’s Nevermind are obvious (perhaps too obvious) choices. Perhaps Back to Black by Amy Winehouse reminded you what great singing could be. Did D’Angelo’s Voodoo stay glued to your turntable for months on end? Did Green Day’s American Idiot give voice to your frustrations during George W. Bush’s chaotic presidency?
On Wednesday April 8th from 9am-12pm, Sex 14’s will celebrate these life-changing albums and songs on his Spring 2026 Fundraiser show alongside The Flipside. KALX is constantly introducing new, untried artists – always looking for new voices to articulate our concerns and encapsulate the essence of the times in which we live.
We are looking for YOUR suggestions! What songs changed your perspective on music? Was there a song in your life that you felt compelled to play dozens of times in a single sitting and even that wasn’t enough? We want to hear from you. If you have a suggestion or several please send an email to Sex 14’s at kalxsex14s@gmail.com.
