On Friday, November 15th at 10am, Vernal Pools speaks with electroacoustic composer // performer, Sarah Davachi, ahead of her November 16th performance at The Lab in San Francisco.
Tune in to hear more about Davachi’s compositions for the soundtrack, Music for a Bellowing Room, her dissertation on Organology (science of musical instruments), and her favorite organ of choice.
Sarah Davachi’s work is concerned with the close intricacies of timbral and temporal space, utilising extended durations and considered harmonic structures that emphasise gradual variations in texture, overtone complexity, psychoacoustic phenomena, and tuning and intonation. Her compositions span solo, chamber ensemble, and acousmatic formats, incorporating a wide range of acoustic and electronic instruments.
Latest release, The Head As Form’d In The Crier’s Choir (a 7 track, 90 minute, double album opus), is out now on Davachi’s own label, Late Music.
