Rare Earth recently sat down with Honolulu, Hawaii based Aloha Got Soul label owner // founder, Roger Bong, to discuss the new AGS release, For Our Friends: A Disaster Relief Compilation, along with the label’s roots and catalog. Tune in on Monday, January 27th at 1pm to hear their conversation.
Aloha Got Soul has curated a new compilation, For Our Friends: A Disaster Relief Compilation, featuring 52 artists from Hawaii and beyond. 100% of proceeds will be donated to verified sources supporting relief efforts in Los Angeles.
“There is a strong sense of respect that exists in Hawaii and its music scene, and this project is a way of extending our aloha to Los Angeles. We saw this happen with Maui; we know the road is long; we understand the devastation and uncertainty.
We reached out to our label roster, friends we’ve made at our shop, musicians we’ve connected with over the years. Within a week’s time, more than fifty artists had submitted a song — some even went into the studio just for this compilation. Almost every song is previously unreleased. And as with every release on our label, a lot of thought went into the track sequencing; considering the amount of songs, I think it flows quite naturally from start to finish.” – Roger Bong
