Every night out in the BayArea poses the same question: where are the hot queer people going to be? The answer to this last Tuesday, November 21st, was at The Regency Ballroom seeing London-based artist Blaine Muse, known on stage as Shygirl. Despite the 88 mph winds and sleeting rain, the venue was packed wall to wall with gays bedecked in black leather and futuristic shades that would not have been out of place in a Berlin club.

San Francisco-based artist Namor released his first album, Mile High Club, on February 24th. With influences including Giorgio Moroder, Mike Dean, and Daft Punk, Namor has developed a versatile, Pop/R&B style of alternative production with electronic elements, gathering various vocalists to collaborate and shine on the silky-smooth tracks. This first album has a little bit of everything for everyone, as some songs follow the classic “four-on-the-floor” drum patterns and others dip into smooth hyperpop breakbeats.

I had dreamed of going to Edwardian Ball for years. Yearned for the golden ball gowns and the little toupées. For months before the ball this year, I read Brokeassstuart’s updates of the corset making class in preparation, interviews with performers and conversations with the artists who were going.
The ball was the talk of the town — two evenings of magic using the Regency Ballroom as it was originally intended, a conglomeration of all of the Hoop dresses and Cinderella wigs in a 50 mile radius.
