When you think you've seen it all, the East Bay finds a way to surprise you. After a couple of dry weeks upon returning to school, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect when signing up to cover Atlas Obscura's "Through The Looking Glass" event on September 16th at Fairyland — but I was hoping for something good. Atlas Obscura is an American travel website that highlights unique destinations to visit across the United States and around the world.

KALX and the Rickshow Stop are pleased to announce Bardot a Go Go's Bastille Day Bash & 25th Anniversary Party on Friday, July 14. For decades, Bardot a Go Go has been spinning the best in '60s French pop, and this year its founding deejays Brother Grimm, Pink Frankenstein, and Cali Kid will continue the tradition by showcasing the likes of Brigitte Bardot, Serge Gainsbourg, Jacques Dutronc, Francoise Hardy, and many many more, plus other international garage/soul/bubblegum sounds.

Tune in on Friday, April 28th @ 1PM to hear Melodrama's recent conversation with Southern California garage rock band, Sun Room.

Every night out in the BayArea poses the same question: where are the hot queer people going to be? The answer to this last Tuesday, November 21st, was at The Regency Ballroom seeing London-based artist Blaine Muse, known on stage as Shygirl. Despite the 88 mph winds and sleeting rain, the venue was packed wall to wall with gays bedecked in black leather and futuristic shades that would not have been out of place in a Berlin club.

On Friday, January 21, the first night of the Homesick Festival took place at the UC Theatre. Boasting a lineup of six artists, attendees were able to enjoy everything from angsty hardcore to soft sadgirl indie.

Join KALX at Bottom of the Hill for a night of experimental, mind-expanding, indie hip-hop with R.A.P. Ferreira, who for this performance will be joined by Eldon Somers. Also appearing will be Seattle's AJ Suede, Mars Kumari from Davis, CA, and opening the night will be the Bay's Maitre D.

Join KALX at the recently re-opened Thee Stork Club, for a night of gothy goodness with The Acharis. Opening the show will be Kim, and capping things off will be Nothing Natural. DJ TV Dad will be keeping you glued to the action throughout.
