Live music has always gifted a unique experience to every individual in its presence. As someone who frantically searches for the right answer to the question what’s the best concert you’ve ever been to and ends up listing a dozen different shows for a dozen different reasons, it has only become more apparent that it is not only impossible, but unfair, to try and find a “right” answer when the artists, the instruments, the venue, the genre, the crowd and more all take part in the ritual of attending a show.
The tiny dancefloor of the Rickshaw Stop was exploding with energy on November 21st as the four 20-year old British punks known as Black Midi rocked out onstage in promotion of their debut album Schlagenheim (a personal favorite of the year), released on Rough Trade on June 21st, 2019.

Singer, producer and multi-instrumentalist Steve Lacy stopped by San Francisco for his Apollo XXI tour on October 25th to perform for a sold-out crowd. The 21-year-old member of The Internet has turned heads recently with an onslaught of top-tier production credits including songs by Solange, Vampire Weekend, and Kendrick Lamar.
Caamp is comprised of three friends from Athens, Ohio. They describe themselves as a “folk trio... making beautiful noise.” This summary perfectly surmises the group and the infectious joy they brought to the Fillmore in San Francisco on October 21st.

Fresh off their tour opening for Cage the Elephant, Beck, and Spoon, Starcrawler has embarked on a headlining tour of their own, making their roaring debut right here in San Francisco on October 5th at Bottom of the Hill. The band will now makes it rounds in the US before heading abroad to promote their sophomore album, Devour You, available for your listening pleasure on October 11th.
