Did you know that KALX receives only a portion of its annual operating budget from the University of California, Berkeley? The rest of the budget, and that includes any hoped-for equipment upgrades, comes from you, our listeners. Projects we are working on right now that depend on listener support include the design of a new KALX website, replacing our obsolete and malfunctioning News Studio mixing board, and purchasing a new back-up transmitter to replace our old, tube-based transmitter from the 1970s. And that’s on top of our regular operating expenses.

KALX has been honored with three resolutions of support for our sixty years of service to the University and surrounding community. State Senator Nancy Skinner, Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin, and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, all honored the station’s past with resolutions, proclamations, commendations, and good wishes for our continued success. We are grateful for their recognition and will strive to live up to our legacy and continue to improve upon it.
