KALX has been honored with three resolutions of support for our sixty years of service to the University and surrounding community. State Senator Nancy Skinner, Berkeley Mayor Jesse Arreguin, and the Alameda County Board of Supervisors, all honored the station’s past with resolutions, proclamations, commendations, and good wishes for our continued success. We are grateful for their recognition and will strive to live up to our legacy and continue to improve upon it.

At War With Heaven goes on a 1-hour auditory adventure spotlighting Persian Metal & Loud Music. Cia Cia La Pirata is hosting this week's show along with special guest co-host Picaro, an expert on Iranian Metal. Our tour-guide Picaro has carefully curated a wide array of sonic delights made by Iranian artists. Musical selections in Farsi and English will be showcased, in sub-genres ranging from the gentle and melodic all the way to the intense and brutal. Tune in for an hour that will celebrate the emotion, struggle, hope and passion of this "outlaw music".

As soon as Tianna Esperanza took the stage, the room froze. Doused in purple lights, her long, dark dress and matching hair wrap made her look regal, otherworldly. She wasted no time, immediately launching into a brief rendition of “Backlash Blues” by Nina Simone. “Do you think all us colored folks are just second-class fools?” she crooned into the microphone, gazing out into the audience. And thus, Tianna Esperanza set the tone for the exquisite and intense performances to follow.
