In March of 2020, without much notice, our physical space was shut down for our over 200 volunteers and our station management team. Our studios, our music library, our operating offices, and our ability to be with each other was taken away. KALX was able to adapt quickly and to remain on the air. During the past 7 months our KALX family has come together, albeit remotely and online, and achieved the unexpected.
KALX's public affairs show, The Graduates, is a finalist in this year's "Best Regularly Scheduled Entertainment Program" in CBI's National Student Production Awards. Andrew Saintsing, the producer of The Graduates, is a graduate student in the Department of Integrative Biology.
UC Berkeley's annual Homecoming event is scheduled for October 16–18, 2020. Homecoming is an annual gathering for thousands of alums and parents to celebrate the Cal community, connections, and culture.
KALX is offering a Virtual Tour of our station on Saturday, October 17 from 11am-1pm. We will also host a Q&A session for those who would like to learn more about becoming a volunteer at KALX. Pre-registration for the event is required. You can fill out the form here.
Don't miss your next opportunity to join the greatest station in the world!
Join KALX 90.7FM, the campus radio station. We are recruiting new student volunteers for the fall semester. Be a DJ, work in news or sports, create web content, or write for public affairs. Although we will be remote this fall, you can gain many valuable skills working at KALX.
It is with a heavy heart that we, the KALX Radio community, must announce that our friend, our colleague and veteran DJ, Michelle Castro, known on air as Transister Sistor, has passed away. We who have had the privilege of knowing and working with her here at the radio station are shocked and deeply saddened by this loss to our KALX family and we know her many devoted listeners will be similarly affected.
