Tune in on Monday, February 25th @ 8:30AM to hear DJ Massari's brief but informative chat with bassist, Robbie Shakespeare, of the legendary Jamaican rhythm section and production duo, Sly & Robbie.  Together, they discuss the history of Sly & Robbie's label, Taxi Records, some of the duo's favorite productions, and their collaboration with Paul "Groucho" Smykle & Wally Badarou.

Sly & Robbie not only anchored the classic hits of Jamaican reggae in the 1970s and ‘80s, they also served as rhythm section for everyone from Grace Jones to Bob Dylan. Their deep groove innovations in the studio with traditional and electronic instruments earned them the moniker “The Riddim Twins.”

Their rhythms have been the driving force behind innumerable songs -- one statistician estimated that together they've played on approximately 200,000 tracks, and that doesn't count remixes, versions, and dubs. As a production team, they were the equivalent of a creative storm, the cutting edge of modern dub, reggae, and dancehall.
