On January 17th 2018 legendary bassist & punk rock pioneer Mike Watt spoke to D.J. Jon The Reptilian at the Mint in Los Angeles, CA where he was performing as part of Eric McFadden & friends annual residency.
Mike Watt will be performing with Mike Baggetta and Stephen Hodges on Friday March 22nd at the Uptown Night Club in Oakland celebrating the release of the Wall Of Flowers Record.

I was inspired to do this design in many ways. I’ve been dabbling in comics and ink illustrations, and decided to experiment with colors. I loved being able to use both drawing and the captions to convey how I felt. I chose red as the main color here because usually when I meet up with the DJs the venues are usually bathed in a red light. It also reminded me of the “ON-AIR” sign outside the air studio at KALX that let volunteers know when the DJ was on mic. Plus, it represents passion.

Jóhann Jóhannsson was a Golden Globe winning and Academy Award nominated composer renowned for his solo work and compositions for films The Theory of Everything, Sicario, and Arrival. Back in April 2017, he sat down with KALX’s own DJ Velvet Einstein to discuss his album Orphée, Ovid’s Metamorpheses, Cold War-era archival sounds, and how the IBM 1401 computer found its way into his work.
