Ruben Zarate created the musical persona known as Dante Elephante in 2013. Shortly thereafter Lollipop Records released his first two LPs, German Aquatics and Anglo-Saxon Summer, both produced by Jonathan Rado (Foxygen), which saw praise from Consequence of Sound, Funny or Die, and Brooklyn Vegan.

Sara is a historical ecologist who studies subfossils, the remains of organisms that died in the recent past. Specifically, they're looking at how populations of single-celled organisms in the Santa Barbara Basin have changed in the past two centuries, during California's rapid population growth.
