On Friday, January 21, the first night of the Homesick Festival took place at the UC Theatre. Boasting a lineup of six artists, attendees were able to enjoy everything from angsty hardcore to soft sadgirl indie.

This Saturday, January 28th on KALX Live, Hot Laundry is hosted in-studio by Renée Black. Tune in around 9:30 PM to hear Hot Laundry take over the KALX studios with a live performance + interview. Sending you back to the 1960s bad girl garage band days, Hot Laundry is a San Francisco outfit kicking out a fresh new take on hi-octane rock-n-roll. With hints of Motown, revved up guitars in the vein of MC5, and a heavy dash of delta boogie.

Tune in on Monday, January 30th @ 8:30PM when Amazing Grace hosts San Francisco based musician, Ernesto Diaz-Infante, for an in-studio performance and interview. Joining Ernesto will be filmmaker and flautist, Marjorie Sturm.

Modest Mouse celebrated the 25th anniversary of their album, The Lonesome Crowded West, in Oakland’s Fox Theatre on November 30th. The album was released in 1997, when the members of the band were in their early twenties. Unlike their more recent albums, the tracks themselves have a distinct youthfulness to them, filled with more angst, shouting and confusion.

Tune in at 11:59 pm on January 16th to hear an hour of Canadian Indigenous music on Radio Dunya with the Berkestir. The program will feature some songs sung in Inuit from traditional to folk and also songs about animals, dreams, and the spirit.
