The standing room surrounding the stage at Cornerstone on the evening of February 11th began sparse and scattered, dotted with both couples and solo attendees anticipating the start of the show. By the time the opening band, Pure Adult, was completing their set, the onlookers had gathered and condensed, gravitating towards the front to absorb the buzzing energy generated by the band.

Jazz guitar legend Calvin Keys stops by KALX Live! for an in-studio performance and interview this Saturday, Feb 11th at 10pm with host DJ Nickel Hardaway. Keys has been a staple of the Bay Area jazz scene for nearly 50 years, first recording for Oakland's eminent Black Jazz label. Since relocating in 1975, he has played in countless live and recorded sessions in and around the area, on top of teaching and mentoring at Jazz Camp West and the Oakland Public Conservatory.

The Berkestir will feature songs written by the late, great, singer-songwriter Ian Tyson, known as the Prince of Canada . In the 1960's, Ian was part of the folk duo Ian and Sylvia. Sylvia was Ian's wife at the time. In 1969, they went to Nashville and started one of the 1st country rock bands, The Great Speckled Bird. Ian then went solo in the 70's for the next 40 plus years, in the Western Cowboy story song vein.

On Thursday, February 2nd @ 10AM, Velvet Einstein airs a recent interview with Berlin based Belgian-Congolese composer, musician, author, lecturer, radio host, sound artist, mastering engineer, and organiser, Cedrik Fermont.

KALX Live will host San Francisco's Luke Sweeney on Saturday, February 4th. Luke first appeared on KALX Live in the ancient age of 2015 giving us a solo set of music from his record Adventure: Us. For this year's SF Sketchfest, the collective will perform the music of Twin Peaks and Repo Man at Great American Music Hall on February 2nd and 3rd.

Sarang is a PhD Student in Political Science with experience in physics, law, journalism, politics, and technology.
