Giovanna studies Oenocarpus bataua, a palm tree native to the Amazon rainforest, and has spent time in Peru investigating the role human interactions have played in influencing the diversity and distribution of the plant.
Tune in to The Graduates this Tuesday, January 5 at 9AM, for an interview with Joshua Benjamins from the Classics Department at UC Berkeley. Joshua studies how concepts and ideas evolve over time with a particular focus on these processes in the Later Roman Empire. In the interview we discuss how Romans' understanding of time changed as their city grew into an empire that seemed increasingly tenuous in the time period Joshua focuses on.
