On Saturday April 25th, KALX presents Kevin Carducci with Ismay at Ashkenaz in Berkeley. Additional event information can be found at the venues website here.
Kevin Carducci, the self-described Time Traveling Troubadour from the Late 1900s…or Spaghetti & Western Songwriter, has already worn out several pairs of boots traveling the world as a songwriter, bandleader & stand-up (bass) guy with his project, The Easy Leaves. His newest material continues in that same California country troubadour tradition where he began, cutting a musical path from Bakersfield to Mendocino-past the old honky tonk roadhouses & dusty walnut orchards, up old mountain logging roads. His previous albums include A World I Can’t Believe, Hard Times & Trouble, Half True Story, and Home Sweet Nowhere. He seems to have a song for every lonesome occasion, but this Saturday will be celebrating the release of his new album, Easy Does It, along with friends from Fossil Records, Ismay, and other special guests.
Ismay melds the experience of taming wild horses, escaping wildfires and birthing lambs to create a mystical soundscape inspired by her native Northern California. Her debut full length album was actually recorded in the family barn and released in 2020. She represents the collaborative work driven by singer-songwriter Avery Hellman, who grew up backstage at their grandfather’s Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, where they were inspired early on by artists such as Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, and Hazel Dickens.
Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center is located at 1317 San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley.
The show is all ages & the venue is wheelchair accessible.
Doors: 7:00pm, Show: 7:30pm
