On Friday, September 25th, Cal Performances will host a reception for UC Berkeley students attending the The Australian Ballet: Oscar© by Christopher Wheeldon.
Inspired by the legacy and lore of one of literature’s most well known minds, Christopher Wheeldon’s ballet blends choreography with the story of Oscar Wilde. Oscar explores themes of romance, sacrifice, and forbidden love, weaving elements of Wilde’s biography together with references to his stories and characters. The Australian Ballet returns to Berkeley for the first time since the company’s performances of Swan Lake more than a decade ago. Joby Talbot’s orchestral score is performed live by the Berkeley Symphony, and designer Jean-Marc Puissant’s intricate set and costume designs complete this production.
For the 2026-27 season, Cal Performances has planned four post-performance receptions to celebrate the UC Berkeley students in our community and to provide a space for you to connect with other students who share a love for live performance! Free light refreshments will be served on the Zellerbach Hall Mezzanine for all UCB student ticket holders and their guests.
