Join host DJ Jon The Reptilian & local band Five Pines 12/24 at 9pm for KALX Live!
Five Pines began in 2012 and is an eclectic adventure about growing up in California. The songs are visual cues that capture the grit of life’s eccentricity. ‘Spice of Life’ is the second album in the collection that explores deeper compositional writing. The first album “The Long Hot Summer of 8-Tracks and 74 LTD’ garnered appreciation from the guitar community. Songs like Bonanza in B&W, Psychic Factory and Taking Care of Business in a Wintery Minnesota show a range of styles all within each song. Kevin WIlliams is the main composer and is a music geek obsessed with all things guitar. Kev studied classical guitar and composition around the country and brings those influences to these albums. Craig Alimo holds down the percussion for all live shows and future recordings. Every song is a story. While the first album is more playful, the second album has a more complex structure of celebrations and reverence to the people we know.
