Tune in on Saturday, October 19th, for KALX Live! at 9pm with Off the Griddle who’s bringing in AninoKo. The band is composed of five Filipino immigrants who play hardcore punk in the languages of Tagalog and Bisaya. The band formed in the mid-90s and continues to play shows in San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Sacramento, as well as in San Diego, Los Angeles, and New York. AninoKo has been active in the Bay Area punk and hardcore scene and the Asian American/Filipino American arts community since the early 2000s. Each member is involved with organizations based in San Francisco including the Working Families Party, Bindlestiff Studios in the South of Market, and the Filipino Community Center in the Excelsior.
