Ajay Saggar (aka Bhajan Bhoy) In-Studio Performance & Interview

Posted on September 7, 2024

Ajay Saggar with guitar

Tune in on Tuesday, September 17th at 11am when Control Issues hosts Ajay Saggar (aka Bhajan Bhoy) for a short live in-studio performance and interview ahead of his upcoming shows at Thee Stork Club in Oakland later that same evening and the following night at The Knockout in SF.

Ajay is a veteran of several UK and European bands including but not restricted to Dandelion Adventure, Common Cold, and King Champion Sounds.

As Bhajan Bhoy, Saggar creates deep meditative music filled with kosmische guitar psych magick sonic raga trips, melodic mantras, and esoteric electronica that thrill and elevate the listener to a higher sonic plane.

“With Bhajan Bhoy, Ajay Saggar synthesizes all of the stylistic approaches he’s explored over the years, swirling them into an intoxicating musical blend, with an earthy spirituality. Even the project’s name reflects the dual aspects of Saggar’s upbringing coming together in harmony. In Hindi, a “bhajan” is a devotional song, sung in the mandir, or temple, while “bhoy” is a Scottish and Irish derivation for a young man. There’s a searching quality to Bhajan Bhoy, as if Saggar is still hunting for transcendence with each track, whether through an expansive drone, a spaghetti Western dub, or an electronics-augmented raga that threatens to dip into noise.” – Bandcamp Daily
